Somatic Therapy

What even is Somatic Therapy?

How do you know what you want?

How do you know if you are in the right relationship(s)?

How do you know if you are safe?

If you find yourself struggling with questions like these, somatic therapy might be for you. The answer to questions like these are in your body, and somatic therapy can help us translate the body's insights, as well as increase our felt sense of safety in our bodies.

My approach to individual therapy combines traditional talk therapy approaches like Internal Family Systems (IFS) with somatic interventions to help your brain identify the changes you want to see and your body catch up to where you are today. In integrating somatics into sessions, we will view your body as both an important source of data about what is happening (and what has already happened) for you, as well as a vehicle for direct intervention and healing within our sessions.

As a queer and nonbinary person, I understand the importance of shared identity with a
therapist. In work with my clients, I draw on both my lived experience and my specialized
training in sexuality and sex therapy to foster a safe space for LGBTQIA+, kinky, and non-
monogamous folks to bring their full selves into therapy. I also live with chronic pain, and enjoy supporting others in navigating chronic conditions, including fibromyalgia, chronic pelvic pain and painful sex, chronic migraine, ME/CFS and other chronic pain conditions.

Somatic therapy can be helpful for people looking for relief from:
PTSD and Trauma
Sexual trauma and painful sex

Gender dysphoria

Chronic pain and chronic illness
Anxiety
Attachment wounding and relationship challenges
